Default Dark fluids

Much has been written here about the dark clutch fluids, and about Rangers protocol for clutch/fluid maintenance. So this post is not about the clutch only, it's about all of the fluids.

My experience, and the experience of most of the C6 folks I have talked to, is that ALL of the fluids are getting dark. Power steering, brake fluid and clutch fluid. Also, I am starting to see postings about dark PS and brake fluids.

I don't doubt Rangers testing. I read the thread and what they did makes sense. But what is troubling me is why are all the other fluids getting dark also?

I maintain that there is a contaminant in all systems right from the factory. The only thing that makes sense to me is some kind of release compound that is being used on rubber and/or plastic components used in the manufacturing process that washes off once the systems are put into service. (PS, noticed this on my CTS's brake fluid also).

Has anyone else noticed this? Do you have any other theories?

I don't know the answer, but this is certainly worth discussion.
