A lot owners have reported this happening. For the cars that developed the clunking or chattering from the differential, at what mileage did yours first appear?
First time at 1500 mile and I changed it with GM oil and anti slip additive. It lasted until 4000 miles. The second time I changed it with Amsoil. I now have 20000 miles and still no more noise. Use Amsoil!
Picked mine up with 18k on the odometer and it had it from the time I purchased it. Spoke with the previous owner and he said it had been making that noise since it was brand new. Not sure why he didn't take it in to have the TSB completed on it while it was still under the manufacture's warranty. He did purchase an extended warranty though, which I transferred over to my name, time to see how good of a warranty it truly is.

Mine's alway's done it, and alway's will. The friction modifier additive will cut down the noise, but also cut's down the effectiveness of the rear diff lock up clutches. I'm leaving it alone.
Bought my car with 4k miles on it. I heard the noise when backing out of my garage since I bought it. I changed the transmission and differential fluid last week (The car now has about 30k miles on it). I CAN'T BELIEVE what a difference the fluid change made. It's like a new car. I would suggest that every C6 owner make the fluid change.
I agree with all of the posters. My son says his 08 coupe has made noise since new. But usually if it is going to chatter, it might take 5 to 7k miles for it to appear. Pre-2009 cars have factory fill Mr Badwrench fluid in the differential. It needs to be changed out to either DEXRON LS (current factory fill) or DIY with either the DEXRON LS or AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W90. The AMSOIL Severe Gear is amazing better than the OEM factory fill. My Z06 is still quiet after 2 years and nearly 20k miles. I just changed my son's 08 to AMSOIL at 7k miles and retorqued one of his rear axle nuts. He has reported that the quietness is now remarkable.

My dealer did a TSB 2-1/2 years ago with the then standard Mr Badwrench fluid since my dealer said my rear end was loud but I had been ignoring it. This was almost a year before the DEXRON LS was introduced. It was quiet for about 2 months before the chattering came back worse than ever. After another 4 months, I did a DIY with AMSOIL Severe Gear with some additional slip lock additive and I have been happy since. The dealer's next step was to order new clutch packs and do major surgery on my rear end. No thanks. Any MY2008 or older vette should likely have a diff fluid change.

I noticed it on my 2006 at about 4K miles and the dealer changed the fluid etc. All was fine when I sold it at 18K miles. My new (pre-owned) 07 Z06 that just turned 8700 miles is so far fine. Knock on wood.
I have the cars GMVIS but don't see any warranty or service work being done so I have no way of knowing what the previous owner did.
Thanks. It sounds like dealers only do these TSB fixes if one reports a specific problem. This one looks like it should be done to all as preventive maint! I guess that would entail a recall, with negative PR. Seems like there should be a category of "just go ahead and do this as PM next time the customer comes in for an oil change if it's still under warrantee (and maybe offer it as a service if it is not)".
So 2009s are OK, then? I haven't heard a thing out of my '09.
You should be good to go. The 2009's got the new DEXRON LS diff fluid which is GM's solution to the long standing chattering problem. If you had an 08 or older, you could use either DEXRON LS or AMSOIL Severe Gear and expect a very high probability of success.
