Washed engine bay

Like Gunk? I gunked my other car many times and somehow just one time out of many times I did this, I got a short in the headlights/horn but I cannot be sure if the wash was really the cause of this problem.
I'm hesitant to Gunk the engine in the Corvette with all of those electronics, computers, over 200 sensors?, and BCM's.
I have an eleven year old auto and my four year old C6, neither has ever had the engine compartment washed. They both look better than when they left the factory. Just a little elbow grease and tender loving care is all that's required.

I've got an 09 with two seasons on it 10K miles. I've driven it through some real downpours for hours and I am always supprised at how clean the engine bay stays. Just a little wipe down and it's done.
