Ok so im driving down the interstate in my 2008 coupe,go to stretch and hit my head on the roll bar for lack of a better word, the cross member that the top attaches to.I tryed all seat positions with the same result. So im thinking damn any rear end collision would cause Drain Bramage.Has anyone else noticed this? Please give it a try, and let me know!
How tall are you? I'm 6'2" and have plenty of headroom with the seat set as low as it will go. Of course I have the tinted top so that adds an inch or so to the headroom.
Im 6'2" Im sure, like i said before this could cause a severe injury or death in a rear end collision.Oh and im not talking about head room to the targa im talking behind the targa.
I'm 6'10" and I love my c6. I've had the exact same thought about the Halo contact. I fit in the car tight, but I fit in EVERYTHING tight. I have the clear top and have about 3/4 inch before I hit. I'm fine with that, but the Halo worries me. I'm really thinking about going to an upholestry shop to see if they can give me another inch of leg, back and headroom some how. I'm thinking that if they can get me closer to the rear and down a bit... I'd be golden! I'll write back with the results. Until then, boy... I hope the guy behind me doesn't miss the brake lights!

6'10" here as well but I have a Z06. I couldn't agree more with you, everyone says "man you fit tight in there", every vehicle is tight when you're that big! I don't have a problem with headroom unless I put my head back like the OP states, then of course it hits the halo thing.
I'm wondering if taking the seat off the rails and bolting it to the floor would put you lower and give a little extra room. Obviously you won't be able to move the seat but if it gives me more room I'd be happy to do it.

I'm only 6'4" and have the same issue. I put the rear of the seat as far down as it will go and recline the seat back the same but my head still doesn't make it to the headrest without hitting the halo. I wasn't concerned about a rear-end collision until now. Thanks.
Glad to know that there is another freak driving a vette! Not sure what the interior shop will say to me. Not sure about bolting the seat to the floor either. Not even sure if that would be possible... but I guess ANYTHING is possible. I'd like to know that I'm not going to be walking with a limp if I get hit from the rear... But as others have said, If I do, my head and halo are having a meeting that will not produce anything good!
I'm hoping that something can be done. I could get more headroom, leg room and not hit the halo. Boy, wouldn't that be nice....
I could care less about moving the seat, until it comes time to sell it. Until then, no one else drives it. Also wouldn't want to start tearing up the car with extra holes and such. Might be able to strip the seats to the frame, weld some tabs on and then bolt it to the floor.
Hope that more of us tall guys chime in. We're all in it together!
6'3" and a tale of 2 09's. Test drove a 09 cyber gray and had the same problem - could not lean my head back without hitting - I would need another inch to clear. Seat was all the way down. Bought a CRM and from the first drive it has been perfect - with seat all the way down, I always have clearance, never hit, seem to have at least + 1" clearance. Wonder if production dates have any bearing - the CRM was 7/09. Don't know the date on the CG - but pretty sure it had been at the dealer for a few months. Other difference was the CG had the two tone interior, the CRM is all Ebony.

I'm 6'5" and find the car very comfortable even with the limited head room. Not sure if my head would survive any kind of accident though, it would probably crack like an egg against the halo during whiplash.
6' 3". Got about an inch to spare. Seat all the way down and back. Might try the tip about moving the seat forward a bit and leaning it further back. Never thought about getting my bell rung by my own car!

My buddy and I installed an insulation kit in my Z so I took a look when the interior was taken out. There are four bolts from the floor that hold the seat in place. You might be able to get another inch if you wanted to drill new holes and move those bolts all the way to the back but I don't know that it'd be worth it. It didn't look like it would be real difficult to find a way to bolt the seat directly to the floor without the rails. I'm going to seriously look into this in the future.
