So...I was about to post a question as to how to turn on the underhood light on my 06. The light has not been on any time I have opened the hood so I figured there must be a switch to turn it on. I did an oil change last night and was about to make a post when I was under the car and noticed a wire connector dangling. I noticed it went up the hood, then I noticed the other part of the connector from the harness. I plugged them in and now I have a underhood light.
Any idea why this would have been unhooked? I noticed that it did go off when I shut the hood.
During car shows, people tend to pop the hood for long periods of time. If this was purchased used, it may have been disconnected by the original owner to save battery drainage and bulb replacement.
The transport drivers used to disconnect them also to prevent dead batteries when they arrived. This is because on the transport the car sits on a steep enough angle to activate the light.
You can buy an in line switch for it for 40.00 bucks. I have one on mine. During shows, I turn it off, when I need it, I turn it on. Here is a link on Eckler's site:
