I asked the local Corvette specialty shop to install a set of color matched splash guards on my 09 velocity yellow Vette. So I picked the car up and they looked like absolute crap. The yellow didn't match and the splash guards looked really wrong, like something from Walmart. Worst of all, the installer knew they looked wrong and put them on my car, drilling holes to install them. They called the supplier cause the color looked wrong and the supplier said you can't paint ABS plastic to match. What BS! My son has a Mustang with some beautifully painted ABS plastic aftermarket pieces. These splash guards looked like they were painted with a spray can. There's not even clearcoat on them.
You'd think the installer would've called me before he drilled HOLES in my car. I'm so pissed!!!! I took em off as soon as I got home and I'm still fuming about the damned holes in my car, right along the colored edge of my wheel wells. Man, I'm pissed!
Let me guess. They were the Altec guards. Black is bad enough, but body color is really off. Like said before get BLACK GM guards and they will cover the holes and look great to boot.

The wouldn't cover the holes that the OP is talking about. Either the GM, or Apsis guards will fix the problem.

I didn't buy the splash guards. I told them, the Corvette specialty shop, that I wanted body color splash guards. There was no mention of drilling. I would not have gone along with that. Moreover, they don't fit the contours of the body very well. As I said, they told me they called the supplier because the color was off. They didn't call me with their concern and installed then anyway.
I'll get the GM black ones and get the dealer to install them.
Here is a Pic of the GM on my car. I think the factory black looks OK on any color, But I don't see why you couldn't paint them either. Wish they would have just added $100 to the car and had them on. After all the ZO6 comes with them.

Agreed. They seem to almost disappear when you put them on...which is a good thing in my opinion. I never even thought about going with a body-colored set.
Get the GM guards and consider installing them yourself. It's not difficult but it needs to be done carefully for the best results. If not done correctly, they may not fit perfectly (especially the rears) or you may be able to see the 2-sided tape that they require. Check out this thread for more info.
I would trust a dealer as long as this wasn't the first set they had ever installed.

There's an old saying "Live and learn". I should have known after having some pretty bad aftermarket chrome for the Harley that I should have gone OEM.
I went back this morning to Corvette specialty shop. They admitted a phone call was in order before drilling. They will exchange out the crappy splash guards for GM 19170234. Should cover the hole.

Holes are required to be drilled in the rear fender liner per the instructions for the GM splash guards. If you get the GM splash guards, make sure you let yourself know you're drilling holes..... Or maybe they'll line up to the ones the vendor drilled.
