Ya know I'm 65 years old and have had three previous Vettes, two Hemi Dodges, a 427 Chevelle and a 409. The C6 clutch assembly has got to be the worst of all. I listened to you folks about this and that for two years but the truth is that it is not the driver, or maintenance it is the design - it sucks.
My clutch was VERY grabby when new making it difficult to get a smooth start from a stand still. I wondered if there was something wrong with my car. It got MUCH better with mileage. I don't remember exactly when it improved, but it was more than 500 miles. 500 is not enough to give it a fair chance. Like others said, give it 1000 miles. If it doesn't smooth out then, you may have a problem. I now have 1200 miles on my car and it is nice and smooth.
Put some miles on it beore you take it in for maintenance. It probably will improve with use.
Make sure it goes away and you just don't get used to it. If you feel with time that it's normal dirve another C6 standard. You might find it"s doing the same thing and you just got used to it.

When mine was brand new it would do the same thing if I tried to use low RPMs and slipped the clutch a little too much. If I used slightly higher RPMs it would not do it. After a few thousand miles it just doesn't do it at all now. I would put some miles on it BEFORE you go to the dealer and risk them taking apart a perfectly good driveline.
I have found that changing out the clutch fluid helps this exact problem.
Even when my car was newer.
It's a $5/10 minute fix that's worth a try in my book.
Look up forum Ranger for specifics.
But I use a large medical syringe to remove most of the fluid in the reservoir, and replace it to the high mark. Keep the car covered to avoid spills on it. Close it up and hit the clutch in and out 20X with the motor off. I didn't think that this would do anything before I tried it on a whim way back when.
Seems like someone drops this gem on nearly every clutch/manual trans related thread... and every time it makes me wonder all over again why anyone would want a sports car with a transmission from a mini van.
Not a flywheel/clutch problem,, its the rear end! go do some figure eights in a parking lot. mine does it in reverse when its cold out when no fluid is on the clutch paks

couldn't resist taking a jab at the autos... of course it's a matter of taste, and alot of people like the auto, as the production figures indicate... about 2/3 autos.

Interesting topic. Just today I consciously noticed that the "chatter" was gone. My new '08 drove me nuts when brand new. Noticed it right off putting in the garage after bringing it home from the dealer. Now? 3500 miles later, smooth as butter. My .02 cents? As mentioned above. Wait.
Glad to "hear" that the Marble Rattling sound I have been listening to for 12K miles is not just in my head. I have an 08 coupe that I bought new and I have been hearing the Marble sound since the day I bought the car. The sound is much more prevelent at low speed and rpm's than at higher levels. It can be heard in just about every gear if the rpm's are low enough.
I have a steep driveway and after almost stopping and shifting into 1st gear I proceed to go up the drive at about 5mph listening to a Loud Marble Rattling sound all the way. This can also be heard out on the street just about every time I start from a stop at a normal city traffic start.
Given that so many of us are hearing the darn Marbles I suspect that what ever the cause its no a clutch issue. Guess i have to get my butt moving and head for the dealership in hopes of a fix
