Have about 1/2" of "play" in the steering wheel of 2005 coupe. Performance mechanic checked it out and states the rack needs to be replaced. He should receive the new rack early next week. Any experience with this problem? Anything else I should look for? Bought the car used about 2 months ago and am just getting around to having this fixed.

Mine has the same amount and I have been told that this is normal. However, my Accord barely has any "play."
I cannot believe any sports car could have this amount of "normal" slack in the steering. I own two four door family sedans, one a Volvo and one a Mercedes, and neither of them has any slack in the steering. And, they are both one year older than the Corvette!

I totally agree with you, my Honda stated in my previous post is 6 years old!
