Default 2008 FOB programing problem

Hey guys. I bought a C6 recently, but it only came with a #1 FOB. I bought a #2 on ebay, but can't seem to get the car into program mode following the instructions in the owners manual. Anybody run into this problem before? Any help is appreciated!

There are a couple excellent writeups here on programming fobs and reams of posts about problems. Do a search on fob programming and you should turn up the instructions. The FAQ sticky may have them also.

Here is a set of instructions. If fob #2 has never been programmed for the car, you should get a prompt that says ready for fob #2 instead of the prompt of ready for fob #3.

If the prompt is for #3, then you cannot use the short procedure to program a new fob as #2 - you'll have to use another, long procedure to reprogram all fobs.

Remember that if you program the new fob as #3, it will not have any memory options - it can only be used to lock/unlock doors, let you in the door, and start the car.
