PAL Question
Sorry if this has been covered before, but my dealer says the PAL only works on 2008 and newer vehicles. He even said they called GM technical assistance and they verified that. I was under the impression it worked for all C6's with NAV/XM.
Can someone clarify for me?

You can do a search here as there are a bunch of threads. However, I have not heard of a model year C6 that was not able to use the PAL. It seems it works in them all...

This has been discussed before. GM only tested the PAL on the 2008 and up C6, and will only guarantee it working on those years.
However, from what I have heard, it will work on any C6 Nav that can play MP3. If you have an older C6, you need to make sure you have the update for MP3 installed.

The MP3 update was included in Radio Update #05-08-44-014A. This was a fix for static on FM stations, but also included the MP3 capability for 2005 and some early 2006. You can take it to the dealer to have the check if the fix was added. If your NAV was not updated, the dealer can do it, or you can download the files here. Check under PAL FAQ.

The simple check to see if the MP3 fw upgrade (without burning one) is to tell us - is there an infuriating amount of static on your FM radio - I mean, enough to make it intolerable to listen to? The upgrade fixes that as well.
