If it's an '05 there was a technical bulletin and fix....I bet if you checked around the site here you would find.....some "horror" stories involving forced towing due to that issue.....
doesnt a relay control it? might be a simple fix to swap one from another componenent to that one
Is there a relay controlling this??? If so, where would this be??? Maybe I can fix it if the stinking dealer can't. My car is sitting at the dealership as I write this.
Could be a low battery. I'd make sure it has had the TSBs done AND check the present battery. I'd also recommend a battery maintainer. WalMart has a Schumacher SEM-1562A for $20 that works great.
More than 9 of 10 '05 column lock messages are do to a nearly dead battery coming to life and 'throwing codes'. If MN6 certainly you need to look for and treat DBS. Or may be a bad battery for all sorts of the usual reasons.
Occasionally the code is due to specific column lock issues, and there is a repair and TSB on the forum somewhere. And that would take a search...
