Thanks out to Bluewasp for the fob!
Only thing, when adding 3rd fob, dic said 4th fob so I'm guessing prior owner had #3. Is there a way to erase #3 (without long procedure) or just stick with what I have?

I went to Zip's in Mechanicsville, VA and the tech said that the vette will only allow a certain number of times to enter FOB programming mode. After that, you must go to a dealer and use the TECH2 (??) to program additional FOB's. Their cost $125. Can anyone verify this as fact. I can't see spending $125 to have a backup FOB. If this is true, I may have a new FOB for sale. Thanks for any and all feedback.

I should also say that it is highly unlikely that you have two fobs that failed...they are very simple solid state devices and unless crushed or drowned (and many survive the water), one may die, but I would bet against both failing. Bad battery connections or batteries themselves are the most common reason for a fob to stop working.

Thanks again!
I have a 05 coupe in the USA. I use the car rarely (only 20k since I bought it new) but have had zero problems before last week
Discovered the car would not normally start with either FOB. Dealer told me to replace the FOB battery - no luck
They then told me to replace the car battery and keep it on a tender - done but still no luck
The car will start and drive with either FOB in the glove box slot but neither FOB will work normally (can't lock doors, etc)
I found this post and thought I found the solution
However after carefully following the directions my DIC does not go into the Slot Testing Mode (short) but goes directly into the Program Mode (long). The DIC displays "Off/Acc to learn" not "Ready for FOB" is noted in your instructions
I am heeding your warning to test the slot first so I do not want to proceed
Does the fact the I can drive the car with the FOB in the slot confirm the
slot works? And means it's safe to continue to the program mode?
It appears from your very detailed instructions that the steps to access the short and long procedures are the same. How does the car determine which mode to enter??
I'm sure I'm missing something here - please help!! Thank you
In your testing, did the buttons on the fob work? Could you pop the trunk with the trunk button on the fob? How about the panic button?
I do not think that re-programming will fix this. It sounds like it could be interference between fob and antenna...maybe a cellphone or charger or something plugged into the cig lighter plug maybe. You could also try putting the fob in a different location or two within the car when you try to start it...passenger seat, top of dashboard, top of console etc. Unplug any accessories.
When the car says OFF/ACC TO LEARN, it is ready to start one of the three 10-minute waiting periods in the long procedure, when you push the bottom half of the START button. At the same point in the short procedure, there is no waiting period, so the car will say READY FOR FOB XX, where XX is the next sequential fob number. I would want to see KNOWN FOB before being absolutely sure that the slot is working properly.

It seems the car is not detecting either of the FOBs. I tried both FOBs in several locations, even in the glove box - no luck. Moved the car into the driveway and even down the street to a park - no luck. Nothing plugged in the car, no cell phone, everything stock in the car, even the radio. Nothing changed in the car from time FOB worked to non-work. FOB worked, car sat for a month and then didn't work
At this point it seems like a trip to the doctor is needed. Is this something only a Chevy dealer has the tool for? To be honest I'm not very impressed with my local dealer. I'd much rather find a shop that specializes in Corvettes to do the work. Any recommendations in the San Francisco Bay Area?
Thank you!!

I didn't mention the fob batteries because he said that he or the dealer had replaced them both...but the symptoms certainly are consistent with dead fob batteries, and the fact that it sat for a month would make it even more likely. I agree that another fob battery replacement would be a good idea. It has been documented here on the forum that people have replaced the batteries incorrectly with exactly these results. It is easy to put the battery in upside down. He should check this carefully.Great news: car is fixed!!! Both FOBs working with full function

EVRose hit it on the head - FOB battery issue
Embarrassing news: I opened one of the FOB to get the battery type and found the plastic package strip still on the top of the battery. I removed the strip and (hello!!) it worked perfectly. Same for FOB 2. Here's the embarrassing part - I took the FOBs to a camera shop as that is where the dealer said I could find the battery. The guy there told me he would put the batteries in for me if I could give him an hour. Sure save me the trouble while I had lunch. Never imagined a camera store guy could screw that up!!

Two lessons learned - check the basics first and if you want something done right do it yourself
Thank you EVRose and cclive - Happy New Year!!
