Some jerk in a Suburban backed into me and suprisingly only damaged the hood- minor tear in it.
Anyhow- what do you suggest I do-
A- Leave it at my bodyshop and let them deal with my ins co? Then I have to pay a $500 deductible and hope that the suburbans ins. co pays me back through subrogation.
B- Accept a check from my ins. co and hope it is enough to pay for the damages?
C-File the claim directly with the suburban's ins co (Lancer Ins.) and let them pay the whole thing- who knows how long that'll take-

It is best to let your insurance Co. handle.. They get it fixed to your satisfaction.. you will get your money back.. I would guess the Suburban has insurance.
Notify your ins co and provide all available info... This will get your car fixed the quickest. Your ins co will go after the other driver/ins co (subrogation) and reimburse you any deductible out of your pocket.
If you think not reporting the incident to your ins co (and dealing direct with that of the other driver) will keep your ins co from finding out - you are mistaken... they communicate very effectively.
I agree that you let your insurance deal with it. They should make sure you get the best repair and will get the money from the Suburban's insurance. Hope it works out to your satisfaction.
It's Magnetic Red- 2005 probably going to be tough to find.
I agree. I have Magnetic RED and the dealer painted the new roof twice trying to please me. It's still not right but it's close enough.
My wife had a big pick up run into the back of our XJ8 and did $3500 worth of damage. Their insurance was Mercury and they couldn't have been any better. We had a rental car for a couple of weeks and it looks as good as new. Our insurance company was never notified.
I guess I'm the odd man here because every accident that I have been in I have only dealt with the other parties insurance company and I never have even told my insurance company and it has always worked out 100% for me with no out of pocket money at all.
You can notify your agent but don't file a claim with "your" insurance company or they will charge you a collision and raise your rates. If the other person is at fault, let their insurance company pay for the fix at a place of your chosing.

BUT, I have always notified my insurance, and they give me the option of who I want to deal with. I prefer dealing with the other party's insurance, and so far (3 times) it has worked out just fine without having to put any money down or accepting a check for far less than what a shop repair will actually cost.
