Hi everyone,
I would like to replace the black sill plate, with one of the more stylish ones. Does the stock plate just peel up or does the new on go over top of the old one? It looks to me like it should peel up , then install new one. I didn't want to go picking at it until I tapped the wealth of knowledge that's out there....I'm new to the C6 community.
Thanks !

Usually you should remove the originals but there are replacements out there that can over the top of the originals, depends on what you buy. Here's a thread with some good basic how-to info:
My 08 has the silver and black version of the sill plate (it is actually just a decal) and I just removed it by peeling off the decal. It actually came off real clean, but I used a bit of adhesive remover, then cleaned that with rubbing alcohol before I put the new one on. I think I've seen other posts on here about the black version being on there they same way.
We removed the ones on my wife's car by heating them a bit with a heat gun and just pulling it off. Then the area was cleaned with 3M Adhesive Remover before putting on the new bits.
If you can get it peeled back just enough to grab it, it will peel right off. The 2006 and earlier C6s had pretty cheap looking sills that I replaced with much nicer Z06 sills. The factory upgraded the sills in time for my wife's 07 vert built late in the model year so I kept them.
