I have had four rag tops before my 2008 coupe. I will not go with a rag top again. The coupe has more space in the rear area. The "clear" top is the favorite for my Wife and I. The top comes off and goes back on easily. With the top off the open air feel is great. It's your choice.

The vert will be cooler (literally) with the top up because the volume of its passenger compartment is considerably smaller compared to the coupe. The C6 A/C unit has a much easier task in a convertible. Engine noise is also reduced in a vert because of the separation between the passenger compartment and the trunk space above the mufflers.
About the only real down side to a convertible is its very small trunk volume. You can put a fairly good load of groceries back there, but nothing larger than a golf bag or a piece of carry-on luggage.
And meaning no disrespect to the coupe, I think the vert looks better -- especially with the top down and the SEG on my face.

But after the rain its nice and cool! Yes I am getting the Vert. To me there is nothing like going topless on a nice day driving up A1A watching the ocean and the tiny bikinis on the beach. Room in the trunk is not a consideration as this would not be a daily driver. I put around 2000 miles a year on my sports cars. When I need to haul stuff or go to the store I have a Land Rover with tons of room.

You are correct Larry... Summer heat = rain almost every afternoon!

Actually I don't blame you a bit.

I've taken my vert on two extended vacations and it worked out fine. I could not put the top down when fully packed, but once I got to the destination and unloaded all was good.
I had to be creative in the packing, even soft luggage would not work in some cases and I had to actually unload the soft bags and store the clothes in various nooks in the car. Was pretty funny when I pulled up to the hotel and told the baggage person to hold on while I repacked the bags.

Thank all for the input. I am tending towards the vert. Yes Florida can get sweltering in July & Aug. but I live on the ocean so there is seldom a day with out the ocean breeze. Inland Florida is a different story completely. I could not do the interior of Florida in the summer.

It depends on what your other cars are. I live in Florida, and most of my other cars are convertibles, and never see the top up. So a Corvette coupe is very useful to me when it is raining or just too darn hot for having the top down. I can also carry a lot of stuff, including our cat and my wife plus accoutrements for all of us.
I have had Corvette convertibles before, and would again under different circumstances.
I have driven top down in very cold weather and in very hot weather (and, yes, even in rainy weather). But I am old now, and appreciate creature comforts over style. (But I still have a Corvette!)

Go with the vert. I live in Seattle and if I can drive a vert up here, you sure can drive one down there! They are much quieter than the older ones and with a push of the button, the top is down in 19 seconds.

I had a C5 vert; loved the profile top up or down; to me it had a classic look. Now have a C6 coupe because the profile is not quite the same to me. Not saying it doesn't look good; just think the coupe has a better profile on the c6's more compact body.
Another thing is while I loved the openness of the C5 vert, I appreciate more the open air feel of the coupe when you want it while still maintaining an enhanced degree of privacy and safety (in the event of a rollover). Also, the glass top provides a skylight view you can't get in a vert.
Love 'em both actually I guess. Wish I could afford both.

We live in AZ, so more opportunities to lower the top. Unless it is too friggin hot!
It is a very personal decision. But you asked! I'm going coupe next time. Plus, I like the overall looks better.

i have a vert and would trade it in fro a coupe or a Z06 any day. Coupe looks way better. Plus some dude just gave me a sunroof that will cost 3500 to fix. My verts up for sale and spring and a Z06 will take its place

Not sure you can go wrong with either. I personally like the look of the coupe, and I can get the top off, stashed, and be back in the car easily in 30 seconds. Probably not a good idea at a light though...
Have fun!

I too live in Fla, and up until last Fri I was committed to a Coupe, but found a Torch Red 3LT GS Convertible in Missouri and bought it. For a few $$$ more IMO go for the Vert.
