I have a 2005 C6 with the origional battery. Time for replacement. I looked at Checker Auto Parts and they have one for about 100 bucks. It has 640CCA. Does that sound good or any advice?
I'll be replacing mine on my 5 year old C6 (31,000 mi) soon, also. I've decided on the OE Delco, or possibly 1 step up. Just can't bring myself to put Sears, Interstate, etc. brand names under my hood. Let us know what you choose.
Holy farts man. I just called "Advanced Auto Parts" near me in Jersey. $185.89...
Dang. That hundred dollar whatever you were looking at sounds about right to me.
There was a pretty extensive discussion about batteries on the C5 forum. Very informative from what I remember. I'll post a link to it if I can find it.
I just replaced mine with the OEM AC Delco battery. I purchased it from the dealer for $99. Heck, the original AC Delco lasted nearly five years and 66,000 miles. How bad can they be?

Would you guys consider like a Walmart battery?
Buy once and buy right try Amazon this battery will last more then twice as long. Cost is $140 on there website free delivery probably no tax. If you live in the Northeast you put the car away on a trickle charger. Do that with a OEM battery and it goes to crap after a while. The optima does not and will hold up much better.

For the C6, I think the reserve capacity is more critical than the CCA, especially in Arizona. I would make sure the reserve capacity is as high or higher than the OEM battery.

The Optima yellow top has extra capacity if you put a strain no problem.

You're not the norm. You can almost set your clock for 3 years on the factory battery.

I just got one for my Z06 at the dealership and it cost $106. 6 yr battery. AC Delco
Autozone has a 7 year warranty battery, with 3 year NON-PRORATED, so if it dies, at less than 3 years, they just give you a new one... if it dies at 3 1/2 years, you get 1/2 off new batery.. for about $100 it does not seen too bad... fits and works great.

Will the Optime Red fit ok? When I asked the Pep Boys dude if it would fit, he started running around like a chicken with his head cut off and almost blew a gasket...

I've got the red top. Perfect fit. BYW, I just saw that Hinson has a steal on Optima batteries. $140 shipped. You can't beat that. I paid $175 local last year.
Optima Red Top is best choice (IMHO)......type 25 is the recommended replacement from the Optima website & if you do a "Google search" you'll find couple of vendors (including Amazon) priced around $140-$145 with free shipping & probably no sales tax. Can't beat that.
The Red Top at Costco is the type 75/25 which is NOT the correct size & the Yellow Top is the deep discharge type which is not recommended by Optima for automotive starting.

When you click on Optima's yellowtop overview, it shows how awesome the battery is by visually associating it with a photo of a yellow C6 coupe with glass roof. Just like mine. So I'm sold. It'll be yellow-top for me. Because of their web graphic. It has a picture of my car.
(The disadvantage of a yellowtop would be that it'll be noticeably heavier - deep-cycle batteries have thicker lead plates)
