Default drivability

Hello all, Im new to the forum. Im actually thinking about buying an 07
z06 and was curious about the drivability of these cars. meaning how many of you use them as your daily driver? I would like to mod it a bit (nothing wild) and am just curious about what everything thinks about driving them daily before i pull the triger and get one.

Hi dezl,
Welcome to the forum. Yes, many of us use our Corvettes as daily driver. Nothing wrong with it. Except it is not a 4WD car for snow and ice. Or not high ground clearance for climbing rocks. Otherwise you should be OK.

Move this to the ZO6 side you will get more responses.BTW had my 07 for 2 years . Save your warranty just in case. Mine's never been down. Ride is what is expected for a race ready car.

Thanks!

Well I live in northern California so I wont be climbing any rocks or anything along those lines. Also I dont really go to the snow all that often so I can barrow a 4x4 or just rent one.

So overall it sounds like the corvette is a good idea for a dailiy driver. I dont have any kids so Im not in need of the "extra space".

I don't have a Z06, but I have been driving Corvettes (C5s and C6s) as my daily driver for over 11 years. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lets take the fact that its a z06 out of the picture, Im more so worried about the car itself.

Im a property manager so I am constantly getting in and out of the car, short trips long trips ETC. I just wont to get something that isnt so "daily driver friendly" with that said and reading the post above it sounds like a vette would be a "fun" daily driver

Over the years I've found a Corvette to be as reliable as any other car.

I would drive my Z daily, but I choose not to. Depends on your uses. Z06 would make an awesome DD if that is your desire.

Since the seat is probably lower than what you're presently driving, getting out of it will strengthen your core muscles.

The long doors may be problematic if you get in and out often, especially if parking space is confined - but you'll have similar issues with most 2 doors. Mine has always been a pleasure to drive.

I use mine as an only driver. If I go somewhere it is in the Corvette. I've carried lawn fertilizer, concrete blocks, bags of cement, and full loads of groceries. The only thing I have to be careful of is to tie cargo down becasue, with me driving, things then to move around a lot in the turns.

I currently drive a lifted 2008 chevy 2500, a vette is going to be a BIG change.

As i mentioned above I drive a lifted truck, I typically park out in the middle of nowhere any way so Im not sure how problematic the long doors will actualy be, although I do see your point.

Oh yeah? Tell that to the dude that works in the building next to mine....... front splitter missing, front wheels stay black from brake dust, you can see a little silver on the rears, scrapes on the front end, below the doors. Obviously parks it outside at home because it always has the water marks you see running along the top of the windows from water blowing off the windshield, you can see where the wipers work on the windshield....pretty sure he's out of washer fluid...etc....

A++++ to him though, he drive the **** out of it

Ok, I'll give you two opposite reviews on it via youtube
First says it's a very drivable car...Go to 5:45

Second says it's a track only car (via top gear) go to the end

Why are you looking at an 07 Z06? For about the same $$$ you could buy a new non-Z06 C6.

Might still have some leftover 09's at your local Forum dealer:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-d...-off-msrp.html

Take a test drive, C6 coupe is plenty fast for street use. And you could always supercharge it later .

Anyway, IMO a new C6 coupe is hands-down the better daily driver:

-- new-car warranty
-- no worries about previous-owner mistreatment
-- reliability should be much better than 3+ year-old Z06
-- better ride/handling compromise (esp. w/F55 option)
-- plenty fast for street use AND better mileage
-- launch control with 2010 manual tranny
-- removable roof panel for open-air driving
-- you can order exactly the color/options you want

And seriously consider the optional 6-speed paddle-shift auto tranny... about 70% of coupe/vert buyers get the auto vs. all Z06's have a manual.

Good luck whatever you decide. And welcome to the Forum!

I have a 2006 coupe and it is my daily driver in northern California. The car is a blast to drive, and I enjoy it every day. It is a little tough getting in and out of the car when you can't fully open the door, but that is a small price to pay. The cargo area is the largest of any sports car that I know of. I can go to Costco with the car as it holds so much. I think the HUD is awesome and therefore recommend the 3LT package.

You won't find another car that has so much bang for the buck as the Corvette!

Good Luck and Happy Shopping.
