Default Heater Question

Now that the weather is changing I have been using the heater. I noticed that I would have to "dial-up" the desired heat well above the outside temp reading.

For example, last night it was 35 degrees outside and I had to turn her up to 80 degrees before there was a noticeable difference?

Is it just me (cold blooded) or is there a pattern here

Had you just pulled out of a heated garage? The temp settings to turn on the heat are read from the temp inside your passenger compartment, not the outside temp......just a thought.........

I have not seen an auto temp system work like you would think. You always have to adjust as necessary to obtain the desired temperature. After the sensor finally reaches actual interior temperature the system works reasonally well.

I have the auto climate control in 3 of my GM vehicles and I have to set the temp differently in each vehicle to maintain what is a comfortable temp.

Also remember that the C6 has about zero insulation in it, so I would imagine you need to pump more heat into the cabin to maintain comfort.

I have my primary temp set to 70 and very seldom need to change it. It was 33F this morning on the way to work and it did fine, but it does need time to adjust.

Summer I set it a t 71* and leave it. Winter I change it to 76* and it works for me.

If it makes you feel better, I have operated multi-million dollar aircraft that the auto temp system didn't operate as good as our Corvettes.

I think what they are all trying to say is, YES! because there is no meaningul baseline for non-auto adjustment. What does that dial really do in non0auto. It's not half way between clue and red. It just "is". You have to keep cranking it higher until you get the heat flow you want or set it on auto, dial in a beginning temp, see how it feels to you, then adjust accordingly.
