Car2u is not the best out there but it can be done.
As I stated my manual only gives directions for garage opene rwith a learn button and fixed code openers. How to with a gate opener and no learn button just a handheld transmitter ???

I called Chevrolet Customer Service when I was close to a security gate and the Lady walked me through it. The owners manual was not easy for me to understand.
WOW what a POS!
They expect me to start removing the cover to my Apt. complex gate!!!! Look for a learn button. I programed the garage and gate in two minutes in my wife's pathfinder. Held the transmitter to the button and done. No wonder we are getting our automotive *** kicked!

I think you might be confused about this. You have to remove the cover from the remote you are now using for the gate and program the car from the position of the keys in the remote. Takes time but you can do it!

I guess I am confused, but when I open the remote it is a circuit board no keys or position switches

Not a problem. I don't know if it's in the '09 manual, but the process in the '08 manual worked just fine. It took about 5 minutes. You have to open the opener to get the codes, and then there is a sequence to actually program it. You need to be by the gate while doing so.
If it isn't in the '09 manual, print out the '08 version that's posted or on the GM web site.

Oops! I just read your latest post, and I see the problem, I think. You have a rolling code gate with no learn button?!
If that's the case, I'm stuck. Time to call the support number.
The Homelink systems I've had in multiple cars were much easier to program than the Lear system.
I followed the Lear system instructions to the letter and the unit did not behave as it was described in the manual (lights flashing, etc). After multiple attempts to program to my garage door and my SunsetOrangeCreations exhaust controller, I somehow did something that worked. I have no idea what, exactly, and couldn't replicate it.
I can't imagine why they replaced the Homelink with the Lear. Well, probably it was cheaper.

Actually, he is not confused. Since I had Car2U, Lear wanted me to remove the cover from the gate system to the community! Since it was locked, I called the gate company, and asked for access to the LEARN button.
I can still hear the screaming!!! "No way, no how will you touch that Learn button unless you want to reprogram the remotes of all 330 houses in the neighborhood!!!!"
Needless to say, I did not do it. I bought a Homelink visor, and installed that.....programmec in 30 seconds and works like a champ.
