Default Valentine One Installation?

Hi,

I want to use my only Valentine One in both my Vette and CTS-V. I plan on connecting an invisacord to both rearview mirrors. What is the best way to mount the V-1, so that I can easily remove it and rotate it between my vehicles? Will the suction cups wear out, if I'm relocating the V-1 twice a week?

Thanks,
Jeffrey

I used the one that sticks on to the rear view mirror. Get one for both vehicles. That way you can slide it out and into the other car.....

I'd definitely get a second mount. There are many options for the C6, so maybe just use the original V1 mount in the CTS?

I have the VozTech mount (from Vettemods.com), and it works pretty well. It does tend to bounce a little bit because of the shape of the bracket, but it puts the V1 in a good location, and when you leave the car, you can't really see a radar detector bracket. One less reason for anyone to break into the car!

I doubt the suction cups will wear out based on my usage. What you will run in to is the cups won't stick well if you apply them when it's cold. If they were applied when it was warm and then it gets cold, they'll stay on forever. That may not be an issue where you're at. Also, if you deform the cups by propping them up against something, they will lose their native shape until they warm up and sit for a while - meaning they won't stick well initially.

So, my advice if you want to use V1 provided stuff: Get two suction mounts and never take them off the windshield. Just pull the V1 off the mount. Or go visor-mount.

Whatever you do, it's not worth the frustration of a mount that doesn't stick well: I ended up getting two V1s to cover both cars. I haven't moved the windshield-mounted V1 in the Vette for a year.

Go with visor mounts in both vehicles - buy a couple of invisicords; connect/use rear view mirror power source and you are good to go. Swap between vehicles as you like.

I have two....to share between three cars. One stays in the Vette at all times. I am a believer in discretion when it comes to radar detectors so they are out of sight to the casual observer. The Vette's is actually mounted up where I can put the visor down or keep it down so that is it is not as easily noticed. I have the optional remote display which works great and have it neatly velcro'd down in the ashtray. I have had the same suction cups for going on 8 years and they still work. If you just lightly west the cups with the most obvious source they will stick forever. Also, the coverage has been superb on radar both front and rear. The one risk is rear laser, but frankly, so what? The only time I have actually gotten a ticket in the last 5 years was to a laser off the front quarter and there is not a lot you can do about lasers that doesn't cost a lot and or may be illegal(aside from slowing down). Great choice.

Hi,

Thanks, to all, for the helpful responses!

What is the best C6 visor mount?

Who sells additional sets of V-1 suction cups?

Thanks again,
Jeffrey

I tweaked the stock mount using a vice, drilled a couple holes in it, and mounted it to the driver side sun visor. Suction cup mount stays in my truck.
