Default 2009 Build Date Correct?

Can this build sheet date be right for an early serial number 2009 4LT Convertible I'm looking at?

The build sheet says

Build Date: 04/03/2009

VIN: 1G1YY36W295105639

Car Number 5639 ought to have been built 10 months earlier...

Am I missing something?

Doesn't look right to me, but neither does 10 months earlier. Build of new models usually starts at the end of June (2008) or the first of July. There were not quite 17,000 C6s built for model year 2009. So I would expect a C6 with the VIN of 5639 to be built a little less than 1/3 of the way through the model year. That would put its build date about October of 2008.

I agree; it just doesn't seem right - any experts please weigh in!

Here's what the build sheet says and the VIN is correct...how could it have been built in April? Did someone at the dealership mess with the build date...or could it really have been built on that day?

VIN 1G1YY36W295105639

I don't think that is really the build date. Maybe just the date the info was entered into the GM computer. I know the date shown on the actual Build Sheets are NOT the build date for the car (the marriage or "born on date").

Model # 1YY07 is a coupe, model 1YY67 is a vert, model 1YY87 is a Z06.

Default Date Code on Door

I sent the dealer an email and asked them to look at the date of manufacture code on the door; that will give the right answer. A bit disappointed; I just signed the purchase order and was excited to be buying a "late" 2009 based on the build date; now it looks like I'm buying an early one that's sat on a lot for the better part of a year or so...I'll let you guys know what the date code on the door is.

Still, the deals right now are great; it's a 4LT Vert, Cyber Gray/Titanium/Black roof, loaded (sticker is $71k and my price is $56k). Getting the clear bra put on at the dealer - rockers too, as it is about 600 miles from home.

The date code on the door will give the month and the year, but not the day of the month. The dealer can look up the VIN in the GMVIS system and give you the full, exact date.

Yea - I'll send him an email right now and ask him to do that first thing in the morning. Good suggestion, thanks.

That's quite a discount off the sticker. It really is a buyer's market. Enjoy your new ride.
