calling transmission experts....
I am curious if anyone can diagnose the following; Loud whining noise coming from mid ship/shifter area. The noise varies it's pitch in different gear selections. The whine is present with the clutch engaged or disengaged.
Detail: Speed up to 50mph in 5th and depress clutch. Place shifter in 6th while keeping the clutch depressed and the whining becomes lower pitched. Now place shifter (while the clutch is still depressed) in to fourth, third, second and then first. Each subsequent numerically lower gear selection gets a higher pitch whine. Rev the motor while the clutch is depressed, the pitch of the whine does not change. The noise changes pitch in each different gear; first gear being the highest pitch, sixth being the lowest.
clear as mud? I have my suspicions, but off to the shop for the final
