I called the Service Manager of Performance Chevrolet in Elizabeth City, NC 2 days ago after reading about the this problem. I did NOT buy my Vert there. Never-the-less, he took the time to talk to me and discuss the problem. He looked up the LASTEST TSB 08-08-110-001C Dated 12/09/08. He explained that unless there is a problem they do not replace the nuts & bolts or sand the corners of the bows. And, that it is only covered under warranty for 3 yrs or 36,000 miles. He then sent me the TSB, all 20 pages of it. It is quite complicated to make this repair especially for the power tops.
I too followed the advice from another post and identified the start of the stretching that would eventually lead to a tear. I bought some heavy duty black denim iron on patches and believe this will prevent any holes. I would take to the dealer but it doesn't really appear to fix it and the damage done by dealers while trying to do this just doesn't justify the trip. If the patches start to show wear, which they haven't so far, I will remove them and put up fresh iron on patches. You can even see them unless you know what you are looking for. I paid $2 for each patch which I then cut in half. Manual top by the way.
Corpsvette, I used the self sticking patches as I did not wish to affect the rubberize on the outer side by using heat. For me, it was a temporary treatment and not a solution to the problem.
I'm having this done at the dealer tomorrow. I'm quite nervous. I don't get the feeling they realize how involved it is. Hopefully my car makes it out intact.

Seeing that you are in Fairfax, where are you taking it? Good luck!

I had the puncture as well on my 06. It was on the right side. Headliner replaced under warranty by an upholstery shop (dealer farms out the work) and have had no further issues.

Criswell. I always took the C5 to Joe Malo (First at Pohanka and then at Koons). Recently purchased the C6 from Criswell and decided to give their service department a try to see how they compare. I had a few minor problems, and this one. I didn't know the headliner replacement was usually a complex or upholstery shop kind of thing.. I'm actually sitting at the dealer now. They think they need 2.5 hours. I've asked them to keep me posted if it will be longer so that we can make some transportation arrangements.

UPDATE:
Fairly quickly the service manager told me that it is a big job, and they've sent me on my way with a loaner. I feel bad for the tech as GM thinks this is a 1.6 hour job.
