Just reach up from underneath and rotate the socket out of the housing. It is not easy to access this way, but it can be done.

I thought you needed to remove the rear tires and gain access through there.

The manual says to remove the lower rear panel that the lights are attached to. Looks like 2 screws/bolts in the center and 3 or 4 push/pull retainers on each side.

I replaced my backup lights with LEDs and I did it just by reaching up from underneath the car as I indicated in my first post. No need to remove anything.

I just replaced mine. The wires are not long enough to just reach up there and replace the bulb. There are 4 small screws underneath the diffuser that will allow you better access to that area.

I just swapped to LED on my 06. I was able to reach in and grab the socket and pull it down to swap the bulbs. It's tight but it can be done. My neighbour did the same on his 09.
