wheel alignment
I know most of you guys on here doesn't let anyone else work on yourcars but where do you guys get your alignment done at? Somebody at brake check told me they have a new machine where it can automatically align your car instead of the old fashion way with the wrench... is there any truth in this

The latest "Hunter" laser machines are very sophisticated. A vidio comes up on a screen showing the exact location, on your car, to make the necessary adjustment. To the best of my knowledge, one still must loosen and retighten fasteners at the respective adjustment points.

its not a lifetime alignment but has lasted 18 months so far. will have it done again when I put new tires on the car next year. call me **** but I trust my dealer more then the local brake/alignment shops so I will probably go back to them for this service and even the tires if they are competitive in costs as they have been in the past.

I noticed you are in Houston. I just had my 06 aligned at Southwest alignment.

These guys were great. I told them the settings I wanted, and they asked about how the old tires wore, what kind of driving (street only) and offered suggestions. They had me come in and look at the computer and how it was set when it came in and what changes they would make. Took about 45 minutes, 10 minutes talking to me, and they seemed to be pretty busy as well. They charged $85.
The new machines do make it more automatic, but they are still turning wrenches. The calibrations on the machines are very important and I like taking it to a place which specializes in alignment.
