Anyone know what the ambient temp is at the fuel rails? (07 LS2 Stock Engine)
I know the FRCs get pretty hot just after a 30 min ride
I want to insulate the FRCs with Dynamat (injector noise reduction) but it cant exceed 300 deg or it may start to melt (according to Dynamat).
Supposedly GM insulated the 08+ FRCs for noise reduction but my service/parts/dealer didnt know they were insulated, cant tell me what the insulation is, nor what the temp is...
Additionally, do you think the Dynamat will keep heat from escaping?
You do not want to keep the heat it. The fuel system under the hood should be at the lowest possible temp for better performance. Cooler fuel = denser fuel = more HP.
A lot of guys take their FRCs off for this reason.
The 08's and up have about a 1/2 inch rubber mat under the FRC's that is held about 1/2 inch away from the FRC's, so there is air circulating under it --- too cool it? -- I don't know....but I do know that keeping more heat in the engine or in your fuel simple is not worth the slight noise reduction that might be gained with what the OP describes...........
