For those that have removed or swapped out the halo (b-pillar)...
For those that have changed out your own halo (b-pillar)…how hard is it to remove & re-install, and how exactly is it attached? Are there any potential re-alignment problems with the roof or backglass to be concerned about? Also, does any of the trim have to be replaced, or can it just be transferred from the stock halo (assuming any of it is directly attached to it, that is)?
I tried a search, but didn't see any DIYs or anything that really explained how to remove/reinstall it. Apologies if I overlooked one!
Thanks!

eassyyyyy. Its held on by about 15 - 20 screws . Remove the weatherstrip adjacent immediately in front of the halo, then open the hatch and youll see most of them. Youll need a new weatherstrip for the halo/rear glass gap as its held on with double tape and its not really re-usable. Theres no alignement issues when re-installing, its a pretty simple, straight foward procedure.

Two questions, if you don't mind: You said to remove the weatherstrip immediately in front of the halo (roof side, correct?). I assume this part is reusable, since you only mentioned new for the backglass side. How is that part of the weather strip attached? It isnt readily obvious to me just looking at it with the roof off. Did you have to remove the interior trim to do any part of this? Lastly, would you happen to know the part number of the weatherstrip that has to be replaced?
Thanks a ton for your help!

excellent step-by-step write up
The front weatherstrip is completly reusable. The back one is not. Sorry i dont have the part number but i ordered mine from my local dealer and i do remember it was pretty cheap.

Thanks

I recently had my 2010 Cyber Gray halo painted black. Only cost me $200 to have it removed, painted, and reinstalled. I'll try to get some photos tomorrow and post them. It looks great with my tinted top and tinted windows.

I painted the original halo off the car. However, if i could do it over id buy a used halo from fleabay (about $ 125 - 150 shipped) just so i could keep the original halo with the original paint intact. Sometimes you get bored of the look and wanna go back, maybe down the road youll wanna trade up to a newer C6 (did it twice). Wish i could have taken the black halo off and kept it.
Best bet: Get a used one and have it painted, buffed and all ready to install with a new rear weatherstrip alredy installed before you even take the original halo off your car. That way your car's down time will only be 20 - 30 minutes, and youll get to keep your original halo with the original paint intact.

I think im going to buy one off ebay, paint it black on my JSB car.
I just blacked out the side markers, and rear lights, and it has a clear top, and dark windows. something tells me it will look sexy!
