The following was stated: "Unless it's a new Z06 or ZR1, stock Corvettes suck"
That person will remain anonymous but what do you think of the statement?
Even a stock C5 with 350HP is a decent car. It can run low 13's and high 12's. That is decently fast.
A stock C6 with 400HP/430HP runs low 12's. That is also very respectable.
The person who stated the above statement is into heavy modding (cams, blowers). I find that such modding reduces reliability of the cars and opens a Pandora's Box to a host of issues like drive ability, reliability, warranty, emissions, etc.
I don't think any Corvette sucks. I have a stock vette and absolutely love it. Does it compare performance wise to a Z06 or ZR1? Nope, but that's alright with me because it does what I need it to do.
That statement is ridiculous. A stock corvette is a formidable car that unquestionably outperforms anything else in its category.
Obviously that anonymous person's mods have gone to his head. He dropped some coin into whatever he drives and now he feels invincible cause he can take other cars in stock trim. Do the same mods to a stock C6 and then line em up and see what happens.

if a stock C5 is the definition of sucks, then the C6 is also a piece of ****.
There's not THAT huge of a difference between the two.
IMO, a stock car and a modded car are in completely different classes. It's really not comparable at all. One of the biggest differences with the ZR1 is the fact that it's supercharged... You could get the same HP out of an LS3 just by adding the super.
What it comes down to could be what you call being "spoiled, self centered".
If you didn't have the money to buy even a used Corvette, you would want one. If this guy owns top of the line Vette, he's just not happy and wants’ to degrade others who can't or choose not to spend more for their car.
Step back and be grateful for the one that you own.
Sure you can mod a cheaper car to take a stock corvette, but the result will be a car that was not engineered through and though to handle that kind of hammering, and in a few tens of thousands of miles, it'll be mostly junk. Whereas the stock corvette will still be purring - and still sell for a pretty decent sum, while you're lucky to get pennies on the dollar for the modded hobby-car.

There is performance in theory/on paper, and then there is performance in the real world. When you talk about cars with "more performance" than a stock vette, alot of that performance is of the theory kind, not the real world kind, and here's why
1. traction. In many (not all) cases more power than a stock vette has cant be put to the ground effectively.
2. Laws/traffic. On the street, you can't explore the limits of a stock vette, let alone something with even more "performance"
3. Driver ability. On the track, where you can go as fast as you want, most drivers, with very few exceptions, will be limited by their own skill before a stock vette runs out of performance. Those that have the ability to drive a stock vette at 100% wouldn't be likely to make the statement above.

I think the person who said that sucks but that is just my opinion and most people probably shouldn't care one way ot the other what either of us thinks. We all used to be entitled to our opinions. Too bad the current thinking is that we all have to think alike and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

The C6 is a very nice sportscar!!
I'm from Germany and I have everytime fun with the Vette particularly
on the Autobahn.:-)))))))))))))))))))))))))
I have a stock C6, and it is about all that I can handle. I don't want any more power. Plus, I doubt that there would be a big difference in normal (ie, legal) driving.
