Default Clear Bra Options?

3M
VentureShield
NuSolis

Opinions?

3M an obvious choice but $$.

I dont know much about the other two.

NuSolis can be had on that auction site for $17 (Z06 bumper) and described as... "This product is manufactured by an independent manufacturing company. This film is of quality and is not substandard in anyway. It is 6.5 mils thick with a removable adhesive. "

Thanks

The best advice I can give you is to hire a professional installer with a lot of experience and solid references. More than any other factor, the installer will determine the quality of the end result and your overall satisfaction.

Having said that, many here (myself included) have been very pleased with the 3M product. Many others have had great results with VentureShield. I recommend finding the best installer and then getting their thoughts on which material to go with.

Great Advice but how do you get references. I have been trying to find an installer in the Bowling Green/Nashville area and can't find anything

Have you tried contacting someone from your local Corvette club, I am sure one or more of them have had the Clear Bra installed, worth a shot.

The Museum will not recommend any isntallers in the area. I have dealt with a customer there who had a clear bra installed by a shop that claimed they did Museum deliveries. Well needless to say they were no very good at installling film. My client had his entire front end cut up because thy could not get the film to lay properly... so they cut the excess off. Fortunately I was in the area and was able to install film on the car once it was corrected. I wish I knew the name of the shop that cut the paint up so I could post the information. They should not be installing clear bras and I would hate to see someone else get all he way home with their new baby and find the paint damamged.

Look for a Tint World, they are an autorized retailer/installer and are country wide. I recv'd a Ventureshield quote of $375 installed for just the Z06 bumper.

I went with VentureShield and pleased with one exception it scratches and they cannot be buffed out. From what I understand with 3M you can buff out scratches with some rubbing alcohol. Maybe someone can chime in about that.

No matter what it is a great investment and has saved my front fascia some damage. Having a pro install it is the way to go. No point in taking shortcuts on a Vette.

Scratches?

How bad are these scratches? For the price, I was hoping it would be nearly bulletproof.

I have had Ventureshield for a couple of years and it is nearly bulletproof. I have some dings from road debris hits, small, but you cannot fix those. Better the shield than the paint. I had a couple of light scratches from an unknown source that I was able to buff out with Zaino AIO. I am very happy with the shield and it gives me peace of mind out on the highway. I wash it like the rest of the car and use Zaino CS on it. Once a year I use AIO on it.

Can anyone recommend a good 3M installer in San Antonio or Houston areas?

Just had Ventureshield installed on Saturday. Haven't washed it yet, but looks good so far.

The company that installed it told me that 3M liked the Ventureshield product so much that, rather than competing with them, purchased Ventureshield and now owns that company. I have not verified this though.

I was very disappointed in how easily VentureShield scratches. That being said I would rathe have the scratch on the bra then the paint. I would never own a car without one at this point. However, my next bra will be a 3M.

There are two different VentureShield films. a coated (Ultra) and an uncoated film. The uncoated film works well but really needs a good sealant on the film to help prevent scuffs. The good thing is light scratches and swirl marks will go away with direct sunlight. The Ultra film is a coated film and I believe is a much better film. Both films do not have any orange peel but the Ultra is more durable. It also costs a little more but well worth it. I have my full hood and full fenders wrapped on my Jeep SRT-8 and keep an acrylic sealant on the film. Needless to say it goes through the car wash and gets the bruch on occasion... and not a single scuff or scratch on it. A good sealant will go a long way to protecting any clear bra.

Venture Shield has been on my car for a year and a half and it is protecting the finish very well - 12K miles now. I have not noticed the scratching issues, or maybe they don't show on the atomic orange. Experience of the installer is critical. I had to go from Charlotte to Greensboro to find an installer with the right experience.

Thank you. I will look into this as I need to replace the bra next spring. I have to assume I have the uncoated film.
