This may seem to be a silly question, but I have to ask. I have read alot of threads on the forum, but I haven't crossed this type of question. There are many threads on run a flat Vs. non run a flats. Question 1? If a person has a flat on a run a flat you can drive an additional 50 miles. Is the tire repairable or not. Does it have to be replaced? Question 2? if you purchase non run a flats and have a flat tire are you stuck with the possiblity of calling a flat bed wrecker. What have you guys done whom may have experienced these senarios. I know most of you do not run worn tires, but what if it was to happen & how does one respond. Question 3? Does anyone carry a spare tire just in case and a tire that would fit either the front or rear. Tks TIM$VETT
The tire may be repairable. It depends on where the puncture occurs, how large the hole is and if any other damage has occurred. It also depends on the manufacturer. Goodyear allows their run flats to be repaired once and still maintain the original speed rating. Firestone does not allow any repairs.
You are faced with this possibility with both types of tires. If it suffers from more than simple puncture, the tire may be unrepairable and undriveable (both run flat and non run flat). There are products on the market that will temporarily seal and inflate a non run flat with a simple puncture.
I've driven my C6 cross country. I don't worry about needing a spare.
Runflats can be repaired but it depends on what and where the damage is. If it is a nail in the center not near the sidewall it can be plugged.
Without runflats yes you would have to get a flatbed, or many people choose to carry a compressor, jack and tire repair kit with them.
I do not know of anyone that carries a spare tire with them, it could be done but would not in my opinion look very good sitting in the storage area plus there goes most of your space.
I have run flats. Ive had 2 flats, as long as the object that caused the flat is not on the side wall of your tire - it can be repaired. This is my second set of run flats on my Vette they seem to last ,with normal Vette driving (!) about 12-15000 miles.

There's also a 50-50 chance it would be the wrong size (front vs rear) when you needed it, so distance and speed should be severely restricted just like a runflat.
I just had the FT's RF put on my 08 at a firestone shop & they said that they would patch once, but i had 5 leaks on the gy's & i went to a good tire shop to get them patched.
