Just pull the center console out, which will require the removal of the fasteners under the console lid, and underneath the parking brake boot.(You can see most of these in the pictures in the link) You will also have to remove the shift ****, and disconnect any electrical connections (seat heaters, suspension, hazard switch) Then the console can be pulled out. From there it is just four bolts holding the unit in, and you can slide it out and disconnect the wiring harness.
I guess thats what I needed. I thought it may be a simple removal without removing the console like a lot of units pull out with a tool.
Yep. Start from the back of the arm rest and work your way forward. Be careful unplugging all the connections because most of them are difficult to get to and and unhook. It's all in the pics.
It was very easy to do I did it myself on the driveway. Take out the clip where the tour and sport button is and take off those two screws. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR CENTER CONSOLE OPEN. Then unclip the rest of it. You will find screws as you go. Just remember how everything went in when you first took it apart and you will be fine. Remember there are two screws near the passenger console for the trim piece.
I guess I should have said I didn't prefer to wade through 30 seconds of search as you did.
Fixt.
You have to use some common sense. Since it's audio related, head to the audio section. From there you'd have seen the C6 FAQ, in which was the link to the above thread.

I've had the center console out before and replaced with the new CF piece. I just hate the thought of taking it back out again.
It comes out the same way and then you'll see two bolts (maybe four.. can't remember) that hold the unit in place. It's one of the easiest to remove out of all the cars I've owned in my short span gracing the world with my presence.

At least you're not in PR&C. It's brutal in there. On another note, i find searching the forum quite fun as I usually come across a thread or tid-bit of info unrelated to my search that comes in handy. I have a post ***** tendency but spend most of my time searching past threads. Lots of good info here

My other vehicle is a '98 Exploder Sport...cut a coat hanger into two pieces, bent them into a "U" shape, stuck them in the holes on the radio and pushed outward...radio pops right out.
Now the new Kenwood that's in it's place...that beast requires taking the center dash out now.
