Default Operating Temp

Okay guys just checking, Im sure im just being paranoid about this stuff, but here goes.

I changed the coolant yesterday, put in 6.3 quarts of dexcool concentrate and filled as much water as i could after driving around a bit, and letting it work the air out of the system. I didnt used distilled water, just filtered water figured it probably wasnt too big of a deal since the manual just says to use "clear, drinkable water".

I never really noticed the coolant temp before, checked it out now though, i never remember it fluctuating that much! it goes from 204-208 around while crusing and up to around 218 when idling for a while. Is this normal and okay?

Seems a bit high. With out side temp in the 50/60 I run 196- 198 at cruise. You my still have air in the system. Keep checking the reserve tank.

Sounds normal to me. Normal for cruising seems to be just over 200 for me. Not sure about idling for a while, but 10 degree jump seems normal. Very hard driving can get up there too.

Not sure where you live, but if its still warm there, it makes difference of few degrees. IDK for sure but Z51 may differ from base model too.

Sounds normal. My driving temp is 196 depending on weather and heavy traffic will make it go up to 215 +/-.

Temp fluctuations are normal. The electric fans dont kick in until about 215. Its not unusual to see 15-20 degree temp swings while the fans cycle. Just keep an eye on your expansion tank level and you should be fine.

Turn Heater and Defrost on, to make sure you circulate all water and air

my 07 Z51 runs around 200 when it's getting good air flow to the radiator, and will go straight to 220 within a minute or so at a stoplight. so, I say your temps are normal
