Has anyone had their front lenses changed under the GM warranty? Both of my are starting to craze......passenger side is really bad...driver side is starting to creep up from the bottom. I know folks have said it is due to the heat build up & if you feel the lenses after driving for a while at night they do get warm. I am really dreading the thought changing them due to the fact the front " bumper " area has to come off! But then again thats what the warranty is for.
Have 33K on my 07 so will go down to my dealer later this week & get the lo down.
Go to any automotive parts store and buy Turtle Wax "Lens Restorer Kit", it will cost about $10.00 or so.
They give you a lens polish liquid, a wetting agent and (3) sponge/sanding pads, each of different grit levels.
You are instructed to tape off the painted perimeter with masking tape. My recommendation, use only 3M quality tape, no others.
You are instructed first try just the polishing liquid only, it most likely will clean up those lenses to look brand new. If the polish and a soft rag doesn't do it, you use the wetting agent, the fine sanding pads in proper order and then the polish to finish.
My wife's Lexus headlight lenses looked really bad and were starting to yellow. I couldn't believe what the polish alone did!! I ended up using the (3) fine polishing pads and polish....the lenses looked brand new! Amazing product!!
I only takes about 5 minutes of effort per lens. Give it a try.
