Ok, so I'm a new user. I used to pick on my husband for being a vette forum junkie.....but now I have a problem. He's expected to come back from Iraq in about a week so I'm need to have his oil changed. When I get in the vette this morning it won't START!!! It says no FOBs recognized. It locks, unlocks the doors and controls everything else, changed the batteries. What do I do next?
I hate it when my car is smarter than I am! Karma karma karma.....
There is a slot in the glove compartment to insert the FOB just in case of a situation like yours. Try that or if you have another FOB, try that one. Good Luck!!
And, if the car starts....please make sure that wherever you take it to get the oil changed knows what a jacking puck is and where to place them to lift the car......Good luck with getting the oil changed and thank your husband for all of us for his service!
What the others forgot to mention: when you put the fob in the slot in the glove compartment, the fob buttons should be pointed toward the passenger side of the car. This is explained in the owner's manual if you need further information.
BTW, the Corvette is supposed to use only 5W-30 synthetic oils from a certain GM list. If you know what is in the car now, then probably that is a good replacement. If you can't find out, they come from the factory with Mobil-1 5W-30.
I'll second the remark about jacking pucks, using an ordinary frame lift on the rocker panels underneath the doors can cause serious damage. If they use a drive-on lift that the tires sit on, then it should be ok.
And add my thanks for his service and your support.
My advice is, when he comes home let him get the oil changed. Too many things can go wrong while changing oil. Thanks your husband for his service. ( U. S. Army retired 1969.)

Say what?
I suspect Ms Abby's husband will have much more important things to do when he gets home.
Ms Abby: You're doing good; please tell your husband we're proud of him and "welcome home.
The oil is fine! Let him get it changed when he gets home. If he like most of us he likes doing his own work. There's something about a man and his Vette.
If you take it somewhere to get the oil changed, they could mess you up big time.
Couldn't this also be symptomatic of a bad battery? She didn't say how old the car is, but it's about time for a new battery (Optima yellow top) if its an 05 or 06.
