Hi, my wife thinks/knows i'm over the top! Getting ready to put the Vette up for the winter. I'd like to clean the wheels especially the inner areas. We have the Gummy wheels and I can't get my big hands in far enough to clean the brake dust etc. I want to get a floor jack so I can remove the wheels one at a time. Any recommendations?
That wheel cleaning is my SOP before storing cars for the season-nothing over the top from my standpoint. I have a Sears low profile jack that works fine for me-I know there have been posts with other suggestions. Jacking pucks of some sort would be something to consider also to avoid possible damage to the rockers.
If you don't want a long reach to jack from the front or back Habor Freight has an aluminum jack on sale for $60. You can jack from the side and get 2 wheels at a time. Make sure you use jack stands for safety. HF has some al. stands that work good too. Get some used hockey pucks and make jacking pucks.
