Here's what I put on my C6. Got these from V-leds.com. I got them from the popular auction sight. Do a search for "V-LEDS RED V-STAR TAIL/BRAKE LIGHT BULBS 3157 3156 VS" They cost $70/pair. You will also need their 6 ohm resistors to prevent hyper flash.
LEFT IS LED, RIGHT IS STOCK LAMP
BRAKES ON - LEFT LED, RIGHT IS STOCK
My tail lights are tinted and the LEDs show up very well in the daytime and night time

Absolutely!
How/where did you mount the load resistors?
I took pix, but can't seem to locate them. I'll have to search for them this weekend. I basically attached them to the wire harness and used tie wraps to stand them off away from the harness. Similar as you would do with spark plug wires (old school style) with tie wraps.

great job. I wouldn't blacken my tail lamps with my luck I would probably get pulled over but I would like em to be as bright as possible.

I bought the plates as well and mounted them with a rivet to the existing hole in the tub. As you can see it's upside down, but it doesn't matter which way it's wired. I bought the plates cuz they are cheap and the resistor gets hot. I wired the grounds together and ran a single wire to the bumper behind the cover.

Did you use one 6 ohm resistor per side or per bulb? I just ordered the bulbs and was told I only need one resistor on each side by the vendor. Thanks.
