No offense, I just don't see much in the the Autocrossing and Roadracing forum with regards to HRE. They've always struck me as a "looks" wheel, especially in your neck of the woods.

I would get HRE's for street use only...

But there Comp Series is made for track use, and HRE does have a nice one piece wheel now as well.

Then again the OP stated they are looking for street use wheels not wheels for road racing.

I must have missed the street use only post. Glad to see you still have your "lego head".

I just recently purchased a set of Vossen Forged wheels from Jonathan at Wheels Boutique a forum vendor and I couldn't be any happier with the quality and the customer service I received.

ASANTI have a great fit for C6 Corvettes.Look at the website ,The rims will blow you away. You really pay for what you get in custom wheels.Stay away from the up-start wheel companys. They wont be around in two years.

Can you give a range of what wheels might cost from Asanti so the OP has an idea?

I had a set of DPE R05 S Variants on my Camaro, and I know for a fact that the same wheels look excellent on a C6. They were pretty reasonable, as far as high-end wheels go, as I paid $3250 for a set of 18x9/18x10 for the F-body offsets. Not sure if DPE charges a "Corvette Tax", but they offer a nice lineup.

CCW's seem to be tried and true and a great quality wheel. Also, the offset's have been proper for all applications. But you can spend $$$$$$'s on alot of wheels too.

D2-Autosport (forum vendor) can help you out. Also, their own line of
D2Forged wheels should fit your needs/liking.

Lineup:

I thought I read somewhere that HRE wheels had issues with them cracking/breaking. Aren't there tracks that won't allow you to run if you have HRE wheels?

found it!

Just a warning, please be diligent in regularly checking your HRE's (and other aftermarket wheels).

Interesting tid-bit. Talking to IMSA and Viper Racing League sterwards. found HRE's are banned ...

in both series due to too many failures.

NINE, yes NINE failures in one race weekend Vipers.

Apparently the PCA is on their way to banning HRE's as well.

The racers have always called them "Fools Fashion" and i thought that was a little rough until I started seeing them fail at track events and how easily they bend and corrode.

Then, after Leslie had problems with hers corroding and I spoke with one of the owners, I realized quickly they were WAY out of reality as to strength and design.

Wasn't really surprised that they were banned (was at the meeting), but was surprised at ALL the problems reported.

Unreal for such an expensive wheel.

Apparently tolerances are sooooo poor that the tires often rotate on the wheels themselves as the rims are often slightly too small.

With tires and 20'' rims about $5,000-$6000 for all four out the door.
