I just read in the January 2010 Motor Trend (page 134) that GM has given its design department the green light to develop a new splitty based on the Sting Ray concept shown at the Chicago auto show.
Been posted here several times and isn't likely to happen. Difficult enough to see all the traffic around you - doubtful GM would make such a mistake again.

no offense to anyone, yall...but I don't "see" (excuse the pun..LOL) the big deal about vision through the back window.. heck.. some folks black their windows out! some rely on side mirrors for rear vision only.. granted, it helps when backing, but having driven a split window coupe in the old days... its not really that bad......at least to me it wasn't. It will be interesting to see if GM goes for it..
Actually...
Gentlemen, ladies...GM has finally come to it's senses. At last, the real true performance C7 prototype with the most advanced suspension has been introduced...the new C7 Corvette F55, with AWD and an advanced twin turbo 327 V8 developing 555hp, this new, aluminum-framed, Kevlar-bodied Corvette is the replacement for the aged Z06.
As you can see, no split window...
Here is another possible rear end treatment...
BTW, there is no rear view mirror. Stereo camera is in the rear spoiler. This car will weight 3100 as the block is smaller and lighter, the torque tube is made from carbon fiber and the AWD system is made from carbon fiber/Adamantium combination.
Yes, that Adamantium is really great stuff.......lighter than carbon fiber yet twice as strong...
Yes...pricey stuff, tho!
The really great news that few really understand is how the new GM gets military technology advances. The cf/Adamantium combination was first used in the wing technology of the F-22 Raptor to maintain connection strength and light weight.

and as an added bonus Admantium smokes when you go over 60mph!
If they come back with the Split Window, i hope the Split Window piece is see thru from the inside as the driver looks to the rear thru the rear view mirror. That was the big complaint on the 63's and why the Split Window only lasted for 1 year.
