Default Rough ride

For the past couple of weeks I have been trying to sell my 01 Convertible with plans to buy a 07 or newer C6. I had driven a 05 base C6 a year ago and thought that it rode terrible compared to my 01 C5. I wrote this off to bad roads in the downtown area.

Today I got a call from a local Dealer and He wanted me to come down and look at a 09 coupe that was just traded in. The car had 19,500 miles on it but it looked good. The car is a base coupe, 1LT. I thought that the seats suck and that the dash had rattles and squeeks.

I looked at a new car in the showroom, a 3LT car and the seat was much more to my liking.

I know the seats are different between a 1LT and a 2LT but I was suprised at the difference!

Anyone else noticed this?

I know there was an option for "sport" seats, that may be what you are seeing.

As for the rough ride, I hear people say that occassionaly. I have the Z51 which has the firmest ride and I must be the luckiest driver and take all the right roads because I think it rides great! Austin, TX does have good roads though so it probably depends on the area. My wife and I drove from Austin to Denver this past summer and enjoyed the car and all aspects of it, including the smooth ride.

Hope you find what you are looking for..

The difference between the 1LT, and 2LT seats are perforated centers, a lumbar adjustment, and a bolster adjustment, the 2, 3, 4LT seats also have side air bags in them. I'm like 6'3'', and weigh around 250. The bolsters are too narrow for me, they are fine in a tee shirt, but too narrow in a jacket.

My '07's a Z51/3LT and I love the ride. I like the feel of the road but it doesn't ride rough IMO.

If you are comparing a C5 to a C6 I think the difference is the tires, I have driven a friends 03 C5 ZO6 with non runflat tires, the car rides so much better without the run flats, my 09 C6 is a 100% better riding car with the Toyo non runflats than with the stock run flats.

Ya my 01 is running on non run flats. It is a Z51 car and I noticed a large improvement in handling, noise, and ride.

The 09 I drove must have been owned by a big guy. I was actually sitting on the left seat frame with my left cheek and I am not a big guy! I told the Dealer that the seat needs some repair and that it was not for me!

If you think the c6 seats are worse then the c5 seats, well,it could be you.C5 seats are the worst.C6 is slightly better, even in my 1lt.My 01 seats offered 0 support. No offense, but I can't believe anyone out there honestly thinks c5 seats are better then c6 ones.

Our 09 has a much nicer ride with the non-runflats that we have. I have had one nail in a tire and took it in and got it patched with zero issues. I do carry a portable air pump, plug kit and tire goop for traveling. Our 09 does ride much better than my 99

I guess that it is a matter of taste or a rear end opinion!

I bought the 01 new and the seats are the most comfortable that I have ever had and I have had 10 other Vettes including a 02 Z06. I think the difference is that the 01 has the full power seats with lumbar support. The 09 was a 1LT with no lumbar and it reminded me of my 02 as it was lacking in that area also. it does make a difference!

I will try this one more time! I found a posting for a 2009 Coupe. I captured one of the pictures and I will try to attach it here.

If you look at the rear of the seat you will see a wrinkled area on the outside edge. Yhe seat looks broken down and if sat on the left cheek will ride on the frame as it did in the 09 I drove recently. My 2001 after almost 9 years and 39,000 miles does not have this problem!
