We have the nav and it sounds good to us. Also have a bose system in our Cadillac STS with 15 speakers and the vette sounds as good as the STS but not as good as the Audiophile system that we have in our Ford King Ranch truck but the truck has a huge factory subwoofer under the rear seat.
Hello members i have heared that the stereo in a c6 sounds better with out nav is that true? thanks
If you want good sound. skip the nav, rip out the Bose or base system and replace with a Kenwood. The whole Bose system is worse than bad. It's actually quite pathetic. There are LOTS of threads this subject.
I have the NAV system and I'm not happy with the sound. Our last car was an Infiniti with the Bose system and it was great. I'm very disappointed with the C6 Bose.

I didn't go with the NAV because I heard the sound is not as good as non-NAV, there is no traffic feature on the OEM NAV, you delete a 6 disc CD changer and you can't see the NAV if the sun is shining on it anyway. So if you life in the middle of no where, are happy with XM/FM/AM and drive in the dark then you'll be very happy with it.
Many here have reported the same - Nav stereo doesn't sound as good. While that the Bose isn't as good as it should be, I don't think the base system sounds better than the Bose. We have the Nav and Bose in our Tahoe.
To me, it's an easy decision. Regardless of whether ot not you think one sounds better than the other, I would not get the Nav simply because it is WAY overpriced.
I like my Garmin just fine, and if I ever were to upgrade to a kickass aftermarket system, it's that much less $ down the drain.

The answer is to go to a dealer and listen for yourself. But I would never have a Corvette without the nav. That's because the nav is so good compared to the aftermarket units. No aftermarket unit integrates with the car like the factory nav. None display on the HUD.
So, are you buying the car for the stereo in which case there are many better sound systems or are you buying it as a complete package of features that happens to include a stereo that is pretty good?
If you are of the younger generation or are a real audiophile, you may not be satisfied with the nav/Bose system. For me it's fine. I did change out the Bose door speakers to Boston Accoustics which improved the sound considerably. The worst thing about nav is the cost and maybe not quite the sound of a non nav system. The best things are looks, resale, touch screen controls (cd song lists and control) and most important is the ability to use the Ipod PAL interface which gives you 1000's of songs at your fingertips.
If you want to have an OEM nav with a better sound, one option is to change the Bose amp and speakers and eventually add a subwoofer. A lot of threads exists in the Audio section about this subject.
