Default programming tps

I bought new tires and wheels. Now I need to program the tps. The wheels have new to this car sender units. Where is the best place to buy the programming tool? Is programming the system as easy as it looks?

Wow the prices on that unit went up I bought mine for just over a hundred shipped a few months back.

Check around for a better price, I can't tell you how it works mine is still in the box.

Here's one that's cheaper:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d.html/r...2AI2SEG&sr=8-1

That link to the one for $183 includes a PIM (Programming Interface Module) that is used to connect it to a computer when upgrading the software in the tool - pretty much unnecessary unless you're using the tool in a tire shop.

Here's a link to a far less expensive ATEQ VT10 on a CF vendor's site:

http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/detail.jsp?ID=111

A VT10 can register all four C6 TPM sensors in a 60-second walk-around. This is a must-have for anyone with winter tires on a second set of wheels.

I just had wheels and new TPS put on and the GM tech said he couldn't read them. Is there something special I need to tell them to get this done? I dont think they are GM TPS ... someone said something about codes on the units themselves. Problem is I'd have to tear down the wheels to get to them.

HELP!!!

Can you provide any more details about your sensors? If they're not GM or at least GM-compatible, they might not be able to respond to the right interrogation signals. If that's the case, you probably have no choice but to tear down your wheels and replace them.

Hey teking, I see you live in Geneva (drove right by there last night on the way to UCF). I live in Port Orange. You can either drive up here, or I'd be happy to meet you 1/2 way - say in Osteen.

I've got a tool that can do good diagnostics on your sensors. I don't know why somebody would sell you sensors that aren't compatible with your TPMS computer. Schrader makes our sensors and they are GM Part# 25758220. Do you know what yours look like? They should be a gray peanut shaped sensor for any 2005 to 2009 C6 (I think maybe the 2010 sensors are green, but I'm not sure). Here's a picture of the OE sensors for a 2005 to 2009 C6:

There are reportedly some aftermarket sensors that will work with the C6, but they have to be specifically for the C6 so they send the correct data stream signal to the TPMS computer in the car.

I'm heading out of town tomorrow morning and will probably be gone for a week or two, so if we can meet latter this afternoon or this evening I'll be happy to see what we can find out about your sensors and try to program them to the car with my tool.

PM me if you want to try to get together today and I'll send you my cellphone#.

Bob
