I have a 2007 with the non bose system. I just upgraded my dash and doors with Polk Audio 3.5's and the rears with Polk 5.25's not a dramatic difference but much cleaner crisper sound. Worth the approx $150 itcost plus a couple of hours of my time.
I replaced the 3.5" doors and center and the 5.25" rears with Boston Acoustics speakers (S35 and S55 respectively). There was a definite improvement in the sound, particularly the high end.
The actual replacement is a bit of a pain. The doors and center speakers aren't to hard, but the back channel speakers require multiple panels to be removed to access them. I did it while I was installing an insulation kit in the car and had it apart already.
