OK, got what I call a knick in the windshield over
Christmas . It's not a DING but a very very small chip. I washed and waxed the car over the weekend and started feeling the windshield with my hand and there are others but even smaller. Are these fixable and worth getting fixed. Would something like that eventually run?
They look like a water bubble in the glass? Thoughts? I think it needs to be warmer before something like that could be fixed correctly.
not sure how the law is in Texas, but in Florida, if your windshield has a crack in it over 4 inches long, Your insurance has to replace it for FREE. I'm not saying that it's right. So, smack it with a hammer, and get a brand new one. I know you only have a chip in it, but.....
Oh yea the insurance company will also send someone out to fix a chip.

I bought a kit at Autozone for less then $20. It has 4 suction cups with a center resin chamber, packaging was yellow. I fixed 4 chips like you describe about with it. 2 turned out perfect, 2 were 90% (could still see a little of the chip. I got the kit after watching the guys at the place I got my windows tinted use the kit to repair a few windshields with it. (They charged $15 a chip to fix)
Works like this:
- Center resin chamber over the point of impact for the chip and press the suction cups to the windshield.
- Screw chamber down to fit snug against windshield
- Put a few drops of resin in chamber
- Screw rod into chamber to push resin through point of impact to fill chip it (between layers of windshied. Repeat until chip is filled it.
- Let dry.
- Few drops of resin on point of impact and place a piece of plactic that is provided over drops to fill in point of impact.
- Take provided razor blade and smooth out.
Done in 10-15 minutes. I say give it a go. Not hard and even it it does not come out perfect it will look better then when you stated. One of my chips was right im my line of sight and it is completely gone now.

Most insurance carriers will pay to have someone come out & repair your windshield's nicks/chips. Just call the windshield repair person & give them your insurance carrier info. Most come to your house or business & do the repairs. They will bill your carrier directly, who will most always waive your deductible, as they don't want to have to pay to replace your windshield.
I don't know if the very small nicks or chips are repairable but they are very annoying when driving into the sun. Lots of reflection. I call them sand chips. Best to replace the windshild when you get a bigger size star chip. (Dime size or larger) Insurance glass should cover this and no marks on your policy.
Had small chips on windsheid twice this year, insurance paid for the repair both times no cost to me.They just filled chips in with a resin buff it out.
