http://www.vettestripes.com/

Have you used them and if so, did you like the quailty and look of them. I am having my Cyber Gray C6 roof and halo paintied black and wanted them to do some black stripes but is was gettting a little costly, so I was thinking of trying theses.

thoughts:

thanks in advance and Happy New Year!!!!

The stripes will work well for a few years, but over time you will see wax buildup in the seams. It is a good idea to use vinyl stripes and then after you still like it in a year or so have it painted. Painted is SOO much better because you cannot feel it, but of course irreversible and more expensive :-)

See here, one is painted, one is vinyl - guess which?

Hard to tell by the photo, so my guess is the left one has vinyl.
(I am leaving for Vegas in two weeks, so I hope I am on a winning streak!)

Did you get them painted, if you do not mind can you tell me the cost.

thanks

Correct, difficult to see. On my C6-Z06 (right side) the stripes have ben painted. I paid around 3K, because they took off the bumpers, cleared the car multiple times and color sanded as well to get rid of the organge peel. You cannot even feel the stripes anymore. Once you get closer to both cars you will see the difference.

However, on my C5 I had vinyl for 2 years and it was OK and looked good as well.

my 97 Comp T/A came with vynal stripes, from SLP engineering.. i used Zaino polymer polish and there was no wax buildup at all..in fact, because Zaino layers, after multiple coats, the stripes looked painted on..and they never got any chips or damage either..

Do you know if the vinyl can be removed without creating problems with the paint?

I also recommend Mike at Vettestripes.com. I just applied some Carbon Fiber-looking vinyl stripes to my 2006 Black Convertible. Easy and fun to install and Mike was extremely easy to work with. Go check out his website so you can see all the different configurations he has available.

I guess the C5 has painted stripes. There is what looks to be a big 'ol chip on the front!
