They don't look wide enough to offer much protection from road rash damage.
I like my Z06 Style Long Splash Guards from Apsis.
My rocker and quarter panels on my DD 08 coupe are in pristine condition.
Thanks Apsis for job well done.
I haven't had any problems. As long as the splash guard is wider than the tire and wheel well, a rock that is kicked up by the tire will not hit the panel. Even if the splash guard is only a 1/4 inch wider, whether a rock is deflected by the guard or the projectory of the rock misses the guard, the rock won't suddenly change direction and head back into the panel after it flies past the guard.
Now, this only applies to the rear. The front tires in a turn can kick up a rock into the panel in a sharp turn. And in this case, you would have to have a very wide and ugly front splash to protect the panel which even the Apsis guards aren't that wide.
I ordered the splash guards from Apsis about 2 years ago.
Before I installed them, I inspected the finish to see if I liked it.
There were a couple of gaps in the finish coat were I could see the gray material underneath.
What happened to your splash guards was exactly what I was concerned about.
I returned them.......I'm now glad I did.
Since then I've installed solid plastic splash guards which have worked perfectly, and with no signs of wear.

I have the GM (from Gene) on my C6 and they are ok-not great but ok for the OEM tires but not for anything wider. On my C5 I have PS2 335's on the rear. I went with Apsis but had them painted the same color as the car (yellow) on the inside. Had my body guy but 3M protection on them and have had no problems.
Easy to imagine what a chipped up splash guard looks like without a picture. His descrpition seems pretty clear. The splash guards are painted to look like OEM, but the paint leaves the surface soon to reveal the true gray plastic color...
Obviously by the response he got from Apsis to go ahead have a body shop repaint them for you it's no surprise to Apsis that this will happen....
At somewhere close to $300 for two splash guards, I'd be pretty ticked off.....
Did Apsis break up with you or something? You don't have any of their products so why are you just stirring the pot and attacking them?
I have Splash guards and they look fit and work great. If i have to spray them with a $4 can of spraypaint at any time in the future I will do it happily instead of having my quarters sandblasted and repainted for hundreds of dollars.
Also there is NO alternative for Z06 owners.

I don't have any of their products because I know better from TRYING them first.
Fit was terrible, gray plastic is wrong and price WAY too high.
I've seen others and heard too many times of problems with these parts.. Please go right ahead and buy those expensive parts that you have to continually "touch up" with your Krylon paint.
I'm just lettting others know another side of the story....

My rears have been like that for a while too. So far the fronts are doing fine but they are a somewhat recent addition. When the rears started chipping, and I mean chipping bad with a few actual holes in some spots, I was pretty disappointed concidering their price. In Apsis' defense I had never contacted them about it. My reason was because I knew what the hassle was probably going to be. Judging by a few of the posts here regarding return shipping, time, and cost I see my original assumption may have been correct. I didn't have the time to be bothered so I just touch them up every now and then.
Both the GM and the Apsis have (IMHO) a good design:
* The Apsis are larger which should offer more protection.
* The GM, being smaller, are less noticeable.
* The GM is ~ 1/3 the cost of the Apsis.
* The GM are molded in black, chipping won't reveal gray underneath.
When I added it all up, I went with the GM. Perhpas the Apsis would offer more protection however I felt the GM struck (for me) the right balance between looks and protecting my paint. Being cheaper was an added bonus!

Holy Crap! If I had paid Apsis price and they looked like this, I would be ticked. I learned long ago that their prices are way out of line (on pretty much all their products IMO). I bought the GM gaurds over a year ago and they still look like new...no chips on the car either so they are big enough.

I agree...I call that more than a chip. Has to be the type material used that would allow actual holes to be blown through.

+1 too many other vendors with quality products that Apsis offers.
3x OEM prices is ridiculous. The standard should be something under the OEM price and better quality, or what is the point of the consumer even buying aftermarket.
Riddle me that one.
I installed them on my coupe and they look great and get the job done.
A piece like this should be solid black molded plastic so it resists pitting, but if it does chip you will never see discoloration.
Get a set of these, and throw those other ones away.
Am I correct in what I understand from reading the posts, for a wide body (Z06 or GS) APSIS is the only option for a front splash guard that is wide enough to protect the body?

+2 - For $40 just throw them away and get a new set...for $300 there should be a replacement warranty.
I have never ordered anything from apsis because of in my opinionway too high prices,Sure there steering wheels are nice but even with a core-$600.Heck I can by 3 stock leather steering wheels for that.Talk about corvette tax.
