nav screen ?

yesterday, I drove the car to get it hand washed. the nav screen was completely out. no display of nav, radio, clock. when I got in the car to go back home, it was working again. we had low temperatures of 14-15 the two nights before. is this another electrical gremlin, or could the cold affect it.

I believe it is normal operation for LCD displays. The are very dark when cold. Display will start to brighten around 40 degrees F.

it did finally get in the 40's yesterday

Had the same problem. Everything works but no screen, touch screen works if you know where to touch-- but blank. module replaced under warranty-- no hassles

Temps down in the 20's in our garage, 2009 Nav screen stays black (or at least too dark to read) for a couple of minutes after startup, then looks normal.

I don't remember our 2006 doing that.

Mine does this when its cold. I am having the nav firmware upgrade done Saturday to see if it helps.

Some of the BMW Nav screens have heaters and coolers in them to protect the screen in very cold and very hot temps for this very reason.

Mine will do this even without the cold. just random times, nothing on the screen, touch doesnt work, nothing..blank. Turn off ignition, restart, and its back.
