Default Looking to get a C6 ???

Hi I am looking at a 2005 corvette vert 6 spd wondering if there is any problems I should be looking for .
I had a 1980,1994 , 2-1999, not famililar with C6 loved my 2 C5's .

Should I stay away from the first year? any issues , problems?

Thanks

Buy the newest one that you can afford, non of them are bad. This link may be helpful.

05 = tranny & rear end problems, crank pulley coming loose and failing off. These are the big three that I know of.

05 must also be shifted into reverse prior to ignition being turned off or a dead battery may result. At least try for an 06 if you can.

Do the search, then when your eyes are tired of reading go buy the 05 you will love it and not look back!

Oh yeah, I have an 05 with zippo problems.

Short answer . . .No -- 05's are great cars, but do your home work.

You'll find a lot of discussions here on the interior convertible top liner. Many have had issues with holes developing where it rubs on some of the plastic pieces near the door. This is not specific to 05's so just be sure to look over the top liner before you buy. Good luck and enjoy.

Have not experienced any problem with 05.
It is the first year and the only year with A-4 auto trans. The newer the model the more it will cost. Get the one you can afford in the best condition.

Take a look at C6 year-to-year changes:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1563694469-post5.html

For instance, note the column lock was eliminated for 06 -- an improvement I'd expect you understand. Also, "reduced ragtop bubble at speed," whatever that means.

And Dead-Battery-Syndrome (DBS) affected only the 05... IIRC, this was corrected by dealer reflash, so likely already fixed on any 05 you'd look at.

Obviously, buy the newest C6 you can afford. But lots of folks are very happy with their 05's. Just remember that some paid $5-10k over msrp for a new 05; but that's no reason you should overpay for it as a used car.

Shop around. It's a great time to buy.

And enjoy the hunt!

This is for tracking the car if you plan to do that or drive agressively on turns which means those tires will wear fast but with the conidtions of the roads it will = a bumpy ride
