I live in a townhouse development with an assigned parking place, so I'll need a solar trickle-charger that can rest on the dash and plug into the "cigarette-lighter" jack.
I thought a clamp meter was only for AC current. (Shopping on the Lowe's website seems to confirm that.) But I could use a regular multimeter with alligator-clip leads.
But it's in my mechanic's hands now, and after twenty years with him, I trust his judgment....

They make DC clamp amp probes I have two of them. You can find them on ebay. Yes they have a solar powered charger with suction cups to attach on the inside of the window. However you will need a regulator for it, because it can over charge your battery which is also not good.
Oh the solar regulator also known as a solar controller I have one and a solar panel with the suction cups, I never used it just got it in case I park at a air port, I use the tickle charger while parked in my garage it has a built in regulator and keeps the batter voltage at 12.9. A fully charged battery is 13.25 volts.
Have 2006 Corvette. Battery runs down. have a 3 or 4 amp drain with a meter on the battery. I think something in audio is staying on. I have pulled the fuse and it helps.

I appreciate your comments. I agree with them. A tender is a bandaid on a wound that won't heal. I have a 09 C6 with 125k on it. I just rebuilt the engine. I have had dead battery issues only I the last few years. I have replaced my battery 4 times in the last 3 years. All under warranty; they simply don't outlast the warranty.
I asked the dealership to look into it a few years ago and they found nothing. I am worried that it is my ECM. I have had a few electrical issues replaced the starter alternator, pedal.
If nothing else seems to be the cause of the parasitic draw, it could be a bad diode in the alternator which is draining the battery when the car is shut off.

I like the fuse idea to track the source...

Pull the OnStar fuse in the fuse box under the passenger's feet. OnStar is dead, has been for a year or more.
Do a search on dead battery, there is a lot of info on this topic. After doing a search, I decided to get a battery tender. I just bought my vette a couple weeks ago so I hope my battery will last.
I have an 06 convertible with the same problem. I have placed an amp meter on the negative side battery cablel with it disconected. I am pulling 3-5 amps, pulled fuse to the audio and it helps.
