Hey guys, I know we all own Corvettes and didnt buy them for gas mileage, but I just added NPP on my 06 Z51 and was wondering if anyone has compared gas mileage with the exhaust open or closed?
Go back to school and learn to read. He didn't say he was worried about the gas, sounds like he is just curious. Everyone has gotten so short fused on this board lately.
Not sure if anyone has measured to see if there is a difference, you may try a search if no one replies to your post with any data. I leave mine open 100% of the time but drive it pretty hard so I can not offer any worthwhile data or opinion.

Well in stock form, the NPP is designed to open around 3500 rpm, not the ideal range for optimum gas milage. Even if you left the NPP open at all times the difference would be minimal, if any. Best gas milage is obtained below 1800 rpm in 6th gear.
I have had NPP on both of my C6's and didnt notice a diffference in gas mileage.
BTW one of the reasons I got my first vette was because it got the same or better MPG than my modified Nissan Maxima, not to mention performance advantage. Been stuck on Vettes ever since.
open = less restriction and since the engines computer adjusts the air / fuel mixture you should be getting better gas mileage
.....the engine is just an air pump and if it is not working as hard to pump out the exhaust gases, it just makes sense that you'd get (marginally) better MPG. This of course presumes that you can keep them open at lower RPM's while cruising.
