Had mine four years now. Never a problem. Lube and adjust the cables once a year.
The one caution is to check the area before lowering every time. Watch the four corners when lowering just in case one of the safety catches didn't fully release.
Mine is the HD 9WX. It is a foot taller and wider than the standard HD. I got it to walk under without ducking when the car is stored on top.
I got it from Garage Equipment Supply. At that time it was $2K delivered.
I use lifts every day, (autotech). I purchased two 4 post lifts two weeks ago. I looked at the Bend pack and some others that were cheaper. I purchased 2 Metro lifts from an out of state company and picked them up south of Dallas. They are rated a 8k compared to the Bend Pack at 9k. The metro's came with all the extras, (casters, drip pans, jack tray, and aluminum ramps). The price was $1900 each for everything. This was also the extended height, length and wide unit. Installed them last week and am very happy with the quality. The power unit is american made, the rest is China. The Bend Pack is not american made. For the price difference of apx. $1200 each, I am very happy and have no regrets with my purchase.
I have two of the HD-9s and they are great. I have owned two other brands before these units and these are the best by far. One note is that yes Bend Pak units are now made in China but the design is the same and they claim the factory is their own or at least controlled by them. I was able to get mine just before they went offshore but a friend has one of the current China units and it appears to be the same as mine. I looked closely at some of the other brands that are less expensive but the welds were terrible and not something I would want to walk under.
I was first looking at Bend Pak, but the columns were a bit too high for my garage door clearance (regardless Bend Pak is very nice) so I went with Direct Lift Pro 8>>
Really suggest you go to the Greg Smith Equipment site and read about lifts, issues, certifications etc. You can get Bend Pak or what ever (be VERY careful with cheap unknown made who knows where equipment)... not knowing your garage configuration but if you do not have a high ceiling garage etc measure and measure twice for every dimension ... H, W, D, off set from walls, ramps on and off etc.

Yes, I have a very high ceiling and my intention is to park one Vette on top and one below. I am currently waiting for a garage door rep to come and look at extending the height of the door and remove the door opener. I will operate it manualy for the time being. Eventually I will have a lift-pro side mount unit installed.
I measured my garage bay where I intend to install it and the dimensions of the HD-9 will fit.
Another question, is it worth it to get the aluminum ramps vs the steel? I think the weight is 35lbs vs 18lbs.
You better believe it... steel ramps are more like 45 lbs and aluminum as you noted...ordered my lift without aluminum ramps and once installed it took only 2 days later that I ordered the aluminum ramps...yes well worth it

Well I did it, I pulled the trigger on the Bend Pak HD-9.
Ordered the JP-6 sliding jack plate and the aluminum approach ramps.
I stuck with the basic blue color since it was quite pricey to get it in black.
I'm going to store it at my freinds boat business, then we will put it together in the Spring.
Hoorahhhh
Thanks for all the positive input guys. And yes there will be pics, hell maybe I'll even do a step by step pictoral.
That looks very similar to the lifts that I purchased, Probably made by the same China company.
Maybe if that "company" was an ISO9000 manufacturer and fabricated the Direct Lift products... do you research.
I was not being negative. This lift is the same as mine. I looked at the Direct Lift products at Best Buy Equipment. The Metro was cheaper with all the accessories. I am very happy with my purchase. I am glad that I shopped around.
What I posted didn't come out the way I meant it... my point was many lifts look the same but need to find out where (meaning manufacturer not country) they are made....in the case of Direct Lift their manufacturing facility is in China but is ISO9000 certified...sorry for the tone of my post.

I've got an HD-9 at home and just ordered another HD-9XW (taller/longer) for my shop.
Very nice lifts.. Adjustable runways (37.25 or 44" in between), secondary air locks, certified, can order in many colors, and great service.
Re the ramps - depends on how often you're going to take them off.. Mine stay on so it's not a big deal, but see these if you plan to - a lot lighter than steel or aluminum and long enough you can drive whatever you own on the lift:
No worries, my son got us field box seats from seaon ticket holders on Stub Hub.
We sit on the thirdbase side, behind home plate and first base side. So we will get views from all angles

SWEEEEET. I don't know how familiar you are with St. Louis, but if you want any suggestions on hotels and restaurants in the downtown area close to the stadium, let me know and I'll PM you my input.

I read your thread. Thanks for the info.
One question, you mentioned your Z would not make it up the stock approach ramps. Is your Z lowered from stock height?
Just wondering if my Vette will make it up the ramps. Mine is at stock height.

Well, it makes it (I'm at stock height), but it
drags the flexible rubber spoiler backing off the ramp.
I don't put the Z up very often, so it's not a big deal to me, but CF member Patches turned me onto a nice solution if you're going to put your Vette up more often:
